Different climate means different behaviours, nobody is dining and drinking outdoors when it snows for example. If Florida and Texas were countries they would rate as being in the worst 10% in the world based on deaths per million. Being in the worst 10% does seem to prove something because of the remarkable consistency in the US.

The US never locked down by definition, free travel without quarantine and some state or another open the whole time, that's not a lockdown.

Very different behaviours, while I don't know exact procedures in Africa if we compare European WHO region and PAHO Pan-American Health Organization countries all voluntary quarantine, free travel versus in Western Pacific WHO region countries no free travel and 14 days forced quarantine at the borders and lockdown means lockdown you can't leave your state or province if a serious outbreak in an area without that mandatory enforced 14 days quarantine, this is in general of course different countries and states or provinces within will do things slightly different but it's chalk and cheese compared to the "hard hit" regions, they are hard hit because of policy.

@alannamarohnic4722 That's interesting , Bosnia , third highest deaths per million for a country of over a million people. They mustn't care about old people there, such a pity.
