  1. No wonder the UK left the EU, the EU is a country by the standards anywhere else, how is it a country can't shut it's borders at will?

  2. @Ian Campbell State Premiers or Chief Health Officers shut the borders within about 10 hours if they see fit. Presidents and Prime Ministers in Europe seem to be scared of the EU. To say an ocean can protect you therefore we will keep borders open because without quarantine because it's harder doesn't make sense if it's supposibly harder you do more. Think of the borders of Thailand , Vietnam or China, it's not that different but they can do it.
