That would be number of shots not totally vaccinated, they are different things.

Only Melbourne and Singapore have done this before, however I do share your optimism but it's likely to take another 10 weeks like it did other places. Hundreds of cases a day only 3 places have got back to 0 which is the 2 I mentioned above plus Wuhan.

If China put trade sanctions on a G20 country Australia just over words , what do you think some company means to them?

@mehere8038 I remember reading way back maybe a year ago how they were very particular about everyone leaving details at bars restaurants etc. for contact tracing which seems was abandoned at some point according to some comment to me and also a news article. If people paid by card they can be traced and likely be fine with that but those who pay cash are probably the ones who don't want it on a bank or credit card statement because their partner might see are the ones less likely to come forward. So under the circumstances I totally agree.

Look at history of Melbourne Victoria Australia getting rid of it, this is what you are in for, unfortunately your government seems to be underestimating the difficulties in getting to 0 cases from this position and they can't even get tests done within 24 hours which dramatically hampers contact tracing. I think you will get through it but harder than people expecting. Hearing that they are putting positive cases into hotels is good, that has been an approach by Queensland and New Zealand and other Australian states also to differing degrees. Don't worry too much about the vaccines they can't really help you at this point because takes minimum of 3 months or so for any serious effect.

@2547shan I don't know about how much population density has an effect, greater Melbourne is 5 million people and greater Taipei is 7,000,000 people, Wuhan 11,000,000 . Interestingly at the moment Melbourne with 49 active cases on hard lockdown for 1 week unless extended compared to Taipei, it appears no distance travel limit in Taipei compared to 5km in Melbourne and allowed outside residence whenever you want in Taipei, Melbourne it's for shopping maximum 1 time per day and 2 hours for exercise. Maybe I just couldn't find the information about Taipei or maybe it's a soft lockdown as appears to be the case. I couldn't find any contact tracing alerts for Taipei so don't know how people know if they might have been exposed. If people are traveling freely around Taiwan then of course the virus will spread everywhere. The government restriction settings versus population density matter more until you get to slums, I don't think Taiwan has slums but I could be wrong.

China has a higher vaccination rate compared to other low case countries like Taiwan, South Korea, Japan , Australia and New Zealand, but none of us anywhere near being able to open up, that's next year maybe if variants don't outrun the vaccines and those vaccinated now remain somewhat immune. So lots of buts ifs and maybes.

@xxl1950 you're countering your original point. Of course say bomb airport or on plane will cause problems, it was made an offence in most countries to say a joke about it. Anything that undermines mainland China will be dealt with in the harshest way possible, for a company that would likely mean you will never do business in mainland China, which obviously a company doesn't want to lose that potential.

Change "the" to "a" , please realise Australia and New Zealand are countries too, just because we are south of the equator doesn't mean we don't exist.

Bars spread the virus like crazy , that's just fact.

In addition to the above comment, in English funny and strange have the same meaning , if used in a certain context. I would suggest that ridiculous/strange is the correct translation, it's just because you are in a country or region that has done not so well it sort of triggered you, I am in Queensland Australia and we speak a little like that even to Victoria before, but doesn't mean anything about not caring about the suffering, the context matters. Search Chairman Dan if you want to see how tough we are on each other.

What has democracy got to do with anything, 10s of millions die of starvation under the very same government China has now in the first 50 years, they only have a relatively good record for about 10 years compared to poor countries by reaching middle income level.

@mehere8038 Vietnam has never got to hundreds of cases a day, I would say the same of them if it happened but it hasn't because of proactivity the entire time, Taiwan was initially as proactive as Vietnam but completely dropped the ball recently. The variant Melbourne has is one of the Indian variant but not what they think is the worst one. Melbourne should be fine , nobody there wants to go through the same as last year. Your point about mutations , if they do evade vaccines the world goes back to outbreak day 0, let's cross our fingers that doesn't happen because no idea how many countries would deal with that.

Public compliance certainly helps but it's not everything.
1
Actually if reports were true about authorities doing spot checks of compliance with making sure customer check in using QR code I believe actually fairly easy for the first step, the second step however is the issue because families need to be told.
1
Actually it's not a coincidence, it's the UK and Indian variants, same issue in Melbourne Victoria right now.

@YohannesKristiawan alcohol as well right or not?
1
@YohannesKristiawan yeah I know it had some sarcasm, I think you will find alcohol is a bit worse, speaking as a man I can tell you my behaviour will be a bit different and more risky.
