Don't pick Australia or New Zealand, we lock down too quickly. But I think the 300,000,000 in the US with no travel restrictions is a better option than UK because even if they put loose international travel restrictions you still have those 300,000,000 people working internally on the spread, the governments even put in policies to even the spread by locking down counties or states but allowing their infected population to travel to other states or counties without lockdown, it's rather well done. A bioterrorist could not plan it better.

@TheKonga88 Not if every country adopted the West Pacific culture and wanted the virus gone. European countries and the US want to keep it, cross fingers and hope the vaccines do the job and no other plans other than lockdown lite if hospitals overflow. Fancy discussing after 1 year whether or not to have quarantine for travellers and close the border to non long term residents. Give it another year if the different strains gain hold despite the vaccines and they might discuss it again.

Then in 2 months people will say it's a cover-up and why weren't people warned of this even though some evidence already existed. What would you do?

The original efficacy figures were based on 200 cases with self reporting of symptoms, the accuracy of those numbers especially with new strains might be up to 20% 40% off or whatever. When I see phase 3 genuine deaths data not just symptomatic self reporting evidence I will be more convinced. Currently it's all emergency use and not a single vaccine on the planet has finished phase 3, the emergency is people dying every day so much less will die from vaccines we are certain of that but can't give any real risk numbers on the vaccine causing any long term harm or unusual side effects.

Well if the Yanks are doing that right back at them. Plague metropolis. I would bet that the US has just as deadly strains but as the old adage goes if you don't test you don't get cases. The US has ramped up genomic testing to 0.3% now as apposed to UK sitting at about 4% or ten times as much. Australia detected the UK and South Africa strains just as quickly as the US and we only have imported cases to find them. Not sure if they found the South African strain yet but be assured it's there and sneaked across the voluntary quarantine , that is unless the local strains killed it off.
