  1. David the US is much more socialist than you may realise. Government spending on healthcare during normal times in the US is actually greater than quite a few countries with universal health care. Socialism just means in simple terms government control by direct and indirect means of the means of production. So in the US as a whole giving healthcare as an example I observed a few years ago noting government healthcare spending as a proportion of gdp was greater in the US than Australia. Right now with these abnormal times your government healthcare spending will blow out big time because of all the covid 19 testing alone. Problem with the US is how functional things are. $10,000,000 in February contacting and tracing you could have achieved the same results as Western Pacific countries but now the infections are so high your country is like a dog trying to catch it's tail and on the health issues costs just keep ballooning. So not about socialism but effective government that tries to care for the vulnerable.

  2. You are correct in a sense. Australia and even China looks to you about this disease and possible complications because of your high infection rates. Currently Australia has 2 organizations working on potential vaccines and to test them if they reach that stage we look to you and Europe.
