Disinfectant is poison designed to kill living cells. If it is breathed in it can't be healthy.

@Palesaist with the crime issue I am implying that the government has other ongoing things of great concern so more difficult to deal with and decisions need to be made. No different to resource allocation in New York and northern Italy. Decisions at the peak of the problem are made to let older people die in favour of younger people. I don't know SA current situation but when it comes down to it if doing a certain thing for example a hard lockdown causes greater harm because if an already fragile situation then maybe better not to do it. It's up to each country what they do. It's also possible that certain actions in one country don't work in another. The amount a less well off country can spend is lower. I am fortunate I am in Australia and so far looking good. A good example is some Asian countries decided to tell everyone to wear mask and Australia we haven't . Our case numbers and deaths are almost exactly the same as South Korea on a per capita basis. The key is the initial response. I just had a quick look at a news article and it says there was or is a tobacco and alcohol ban. Very bad idea. I consume both of them and if you did that to me I would probably protest too.

@Palesaist and the other point about people following the instructions is to do with a higher level of fear. They know if they don't have money they don't get the best healthcare. A quick search indicates the wealthiest 10% in your country can afford private healthcare. Also if you are wealthy you can protect yourself easier living in a big house a distance from others. A person knows if they are vulnerable and usually will make greater efforts to lower risk.

Evidence tells us that the rich get it first then it spreads. So a country like South Africa it would spread slowly first but extremely difficult to stop spread once it gets a hold in a shanty town for example. I think people from very different countries should not criticise. South Africa has an extreme violent crime problem and if they go down the US or Swedish path I don't blame them. I wish South Africa the best of luck. I do think in poorer countries people will follow government advice more if they can noting the pressure if the poor to just get food if the government doesn't assist.
