No because infection rates are so low. Australia has same approach and is slowly opening some years in most states.

@itsdatez9661 maybe so , but they do have a higher life expectancy than say someone from Mississippi. Maybe they have better healthcare who knows.

Totally disagree with you. There is no evidence that requiring people to wear masks in a low infection area does anything. In Australia most states are cautiously going back to school starting with senior years and preschool and year 1. There hasn't been any discussion here and there is no need for this while infection rates are low. In the video it suggests infection rate of 1 person per 50,000 give or take. South Korea I know is taking a different path regarding masks in schools but that's up to them.

@SK-yu3dd I understand what you are saying very well. The successful country know they are always one month from disaster. Contact tracing , testing and isolation of possible cases has worked in many countries. In my opinion whatever country you may be from its in the hands of government plus people following directions when required and a bit of heavy handedness to make it happen. Without even knowing details about this area other than the broader political situation , I would rate their chances above many Western countries. I think people are likely to be serious about following directions including mask if it is decided that is required.

@luckydave328 The US is diverse. It's the inequalities in different parts of the country that make it stand out in my opinion to any other high income Western democracy. No idea what the solution could be though.
