He is so blatent about it, that's the amazing thing. It's the thing that I believe will lose him the election. It's not a given but some who would support him otherwise would think this is crossing the line, they would prefer the other candidate win rather than these really dirty tactics.

I am not American but seems a bad system, getting rid of the electoral college would change nothing much actually without making voter eligibility uniform across the US . Every state can make their own criteria regarding felons or ex felons. Number of polling booths per potential voter needs to be written into law, the worst case I have heard of is one voting location for 700,000 people or something like that. The constitution regarding this doesn't need an oil change it needs the engine reconditioned. The oil change won't do anything much on it's own because the other problems will get worse.

WABTT doesn't have the same ring to it as MAGA.

I agree with your sentiment however that is the US system, the operational government is run by 1 individual who nominates the entire government, secretaries of this and that. I am Australian and the idea that one person nominates elected or unelected officials to make up the cabinet seems absurd. You have an elected king or queen operating in a similar fashion to an absolute monarchy. The US Constitution was great over 200 years ago, now it's actually a rather backward document.

The speed at which such viruses mutate I wonder how many variants can be now considered made in the USA. New Zealand has just recently had issues and it's interesting to listen how they have tracked down the strain to give an idea of where it's from. In the US if they could do it you probably have like the New York strain and Texas strain etc.

Yes we can. I don't think Trump is going to start a world war or something.

@cybele_m I don't think 2 or 3 or whatever number of people required to launch a nuclear device would follow the order. He doesn't literally hold launch codes, he has along with the vice president and a few others (should the president not be capable or dead at the time) a method of contacting whoever needs to be contacted in some secure way. The "launch code" would be some sort of communication code, not literally to launch a weapon.

@Horrid1960 The middle East is actually relatively peaceful at the moment and even though it's extremely slow I see things as getting better. Iran might be an issue and my personal view is continuous harsh sanctions probably has a negative effect. In the end if Iran does want a nuclear device they will get it, the raw material cost of a nuclear weapon is less than $1,000,000 at market rates so a drop in the ocean for a country of 83,000,000 people or about $0.02 per capita is not much. Same applies to North Korea. The real reason for sanctions has nothing to do with money or to stop capabilities, it's to cause delay and to hope the population will overthrow the government , which seems counterproductive to me. If another country was hurting my country, my enemy would be the other country even if I hated my government. Whether Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapon or not at this time I have no idea, I don't trust intelligence on this matter much because Iraq was invaded on that premiss which turned out to be false.

@cybele_m I hope your relatives stay safe as is possible. Of course nobody outside of the need to know circle would know the procedure of launching a nuclear weapon otherwise a potential enemy knows exactly who to target.
