The last part of your statement is irrelevant , the US spends more on publically funded healthcare as a proportion of GDP than say Australia for example and has spent more on handouts during the pandemic than Australia. The first part of your comment is correct, things are disfunctional.

@newsoul8626 100% agree with you, but military spending has nothing to do with anything regarding healthcare and handouts. If you have followed things reasonably closely there was massive creation of companies at one point when it didn't seem to make sense, guaranteed they were mostly created to receive government handouts and a report suggested $400 million in handouts actually went overseas. No government is perfect, Australia did waste some money too, but the scale of the waste in the US on a per Capita basis was far worse. I don't know how your country is going to stop corporate welfare and ridiculously relaxed rules, drug dealers with degrees can still get paid, how on earth Doctors can receive anything more than say a commemorative pen for dealing large amounts of "legal" drugs is beyond me. The Fentanyl epidemic is from mostly legal drug dealers.
