Well in your country the unvaccinated are disproportionately showing up in ICUs and some of them being transferred to body bags after that. Unfortunately society has to pay for that choice , ICU beds aren't cheap.

@YouREsoBEAUTIFUL00 Well compare the deaths in Australia to the US on a per capita basis, Australia is below 10% of the US. If you can find anything refuting this I would be surprised and despite Australia's most likely greater infections per Capita currently when compared to the US our deaths are still lower per capita on a weekly basis.

@TSimo113 Actually you do , the US has taxes on alcohol and tobacco. Now you want to socialize the costs of Covid 19 to the entire community even when someone makes the choice of not getting vaccinated. Make them pay if you believe in free choice.

@TSimo113 Ok so Republicans are the liberal nanny state, I wouldn't have expected that comment from you. The federal tax might not be all that much but it's still $365 per year for 40 or 50 years so about $15,000 per smoker based on one pack of 20 per day. As far as deciding what is taxed and who pays etc. that's what governments are for, I am Australian so on goods we are very low taxed , we genuinely have free trade, the US is a somewhat free trade nation so a lot of taxes on goods with import duty and also you paying subsidy for ridiculous things like producing ethanol from corn. That's Republican territory , seems you might want to redefine big L Liberal. If you respond I am curious what you will say. One very big difference between Australia and the US is Australian states are extremely limited on taxation measures , can't have sales tax or any form of duty like that on alcohol or tobacco or any income tax. Those are all rights reserved by the federal government under our constitution. If you are unsure of my claims regarding economic freedom please search Economic Freedom Index by Heritage Foundation. A country has to have a balance and of course governments of all shapes and colors will subsidize or tax according in part with their ideology, Australia while being truly a free trading nation also has high "sin taxes" for the public good and supported in both cases by both our major parties.

@YouREsoBEAUTIFUL00 please be specific, what exactly are you referring to. I can hardly answer you if you don't tell me what you actually disagree with.
