From a foreigners perspective from Reagan to Obama , there was a lot of continuity and they would talk to their closest allies not megaphone diplomacy, basically seeing how many countries they can offend. Not everything Trump has done internationally is bad but his approach is all wrong. His point that allies should contribute more costs regarding military defense is valid but shouting it out publically and trying to humiliate every other country for his base is the wrong way to go about it. What Trump does internally inside the US is even worse contributing to violent left and right mobs instead of trying to bring calm, supporting conspiracy theorist and being the antimasker Infecter in Chief. Trump doesn't lack intelligence , he is just a risk taker who seems to truly not care his actions are likely increasing the number of deaths from covid-19 and certain types of violence. From Reagan to Obama even if they didn't get everything right which is an impossibility, they at least cared and that's the true difference regardless of party offiliation .
