As a foreigner totally agree that a larger proportion than should exist of pure nationalists exist inside that party. An interesting thing that I had never realised is the far left and far right actually meet on certain issues, this is why Bernie Sanders voters voted in large numbers for Trump because of industry protectionism and industry handouts. Those who are extreme especially regarding protectionism hate all foreign countries and everything is some other countries fault. The US has great potential, the problem is a very high level of political disfunction and to be blunt socialism directed to corporations not a social welfare safety net. An example is the CDC it completely failed at the initial response to covid 19, yet on paper the plan seemed no different to Australia in the early days, in fact some indications we followed you, but when testing was completely failing from the CDC nothing was done and the response continued to go downhill from there whereas Australia continued to improve it's response , with 2 states being somewhat problematic , they fixed the problems. It's sort of like once adversity hit, the US and most states just gave up and the CDC and FDA were unable to react quickly.
