The media represents the people and non biased discussions seem difficult in the US. US exceptionalism which means superiority is a problem because actually sorry but being rich and a big country doesn't make you superior but many seem to think it does. It's ok to be a bit nationalist and proud of your country but to rarely look outside and see how others are doing better or worse on whatever issue is detrimental. I think electing one person to form a government out of unelected officials doesn't really help either. Whether you pick Joe or Obama they will choose those unelected officials and you don't know who they are. There are various reasons for the problems and no easy fix, right now if unbiased news is presented, it doesn't sell.
