  1. That bloke talking about "red flag laws" is correct. The only way at a minimum is to ban all new sales of all semiautomatic weapons to everyone except law enforcement and possibly extremely limited security type license. Otherwise it's no different to the US approach on healthcare, highest total spending with lowest life expectancy. Much higher than average OECD spending on publically funded healthcare yet it's not very universal. Same for Covid 19 response, half the country decided to fight against public health measures and you have the largest per capita deaths of any wealthy country. These things aren't rocket science, just do things properly. Turning schools into prisons with armed guards and high walls around the playgrounds, armed patrols I would suggest isn't good for children's mental health. Just locking classroom doors is bad enough you are teaching them to be scared. If you half do it the gun advocates will point out despite the half measures gun violence is up because it probably will be and shooters who want to target student aged people will find other places to kill them like busy playgrounds outside school hours or should they be also military garrisons.

  2. Lanko your comment is extremely strange. Go and look up the homicide rates by state and you will see despite mostly Republican states supplying guns to gangs in Chicago for example the Democrat states are much safer unless you believe Republicans only kill family members so the general public is actually safer in Republican led states despite the higher homicide rates.
