  1. Oakland CA has had 100 homicides so far this year and that's for a population of 440,000. England and Wales had 695 homicides from 1 April 2020 to 30 March 2021 with a population of 50 million or so. The overall US homicide rate is at least 5 times other wealthy nations. The US doesn't see this as a problem and just says that's because of gangs. Given the overall rates I would expect the problem to be worse for every demographic, male or female in the US versus the UK.
