  1. 2 parts, Japan has a high level of vaccine hesitancy to begin with and in a relative sense fairly successful at containment of covid 19 although have basically lost control now. Other than China which is an aboration to an extent all countries that did well containing the virus have low vaccination rates. When people are dying around you it tends to reduce vaccine hesitancy or increases the effort someone and the government will go to to get a vaccine. I am in Australia, I am not vaccine hesitant but the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine is not recommended for my age group which means a bit of effort to get it so haven't got around to it yet. I can also wait for Pfizer but that's probably months away.

Agree but depends in part what you mean, people like to compete in things , most know they haven't got a hope in hell of winning a medal but going there representing your country even if you don't even make it through the first heat is still enjoyable. This year might be different, maybe you can be 20th rated marathon runner and 15 of the higher rated runners get covid 19 and you are in with a chance.

  4. Normally only dignatories view the popular events anyway, normal people are virtually locked out so TV is the best option if you want to see some event.
