I am Australian and thinking something along the lines of that but not quite as strong. What the US is asking is Iran unilaterally follows the deal and the US will then change the deal and once the unknown changed deal comes into effect the US will lift sanctions. Although China won't talk to Australia about it's trade sanctions on us for the moment, ( we actually don't know the exact reasons but many demands have been made of Australia ) , it gives the green light for China to do the same to us , even if we complied with all demands which isn't going to happen with things like , in effect removing foreign investment laws and foreign interference laws , China could just say ok you are following our demands thanks for that we aren't going to lift trade sanctions here are are new demands to consider lifting trade sanctions and legitimately argue this is now the new order of things we are only following US leadership. Not saying China trade sanctions against Australia are anything like that of US on Iran, just the principle is the same.
