It depends on the US state, eligibility even for their federal elections varies a lot, Colorado allows certain prisoners to vote, other states bar voting when a person is still serving a non custodial sentence as in probation. In Australia our federal elections we allow anyone with a prison sentence of less than 3 years I think it is. The worst part about the US federal election is the states having different illegibility because it means not all votes/voters are equal.

It didn't come off well however I do think he meant at the same rate as the general American population. Have a go at him for other reasons but I don't think this is one to be overly annoyed about, Biden has had similar slip ups on occasion, doesn't mean he isn't genuine.

@puesbien Looking at the current ages of people in leadership positions in US politics, I do think they could do with some younger people, 40s to 60s I think is the ideal age range, over 70 maybe still be a politician but probably shouldn't be playing a key role, exceptions do apply of course.
