I would suggest that's a problem because the rules in each state expand or minimize the numbers of voters through measures such as when , if ever a convicted felon can vote going from some states a convicted felon in most cases can vote even when serving a sentence to you can never vote for the rest of your life. The electoral college is also bad giving different weighting to a vote according to your state. I am Australian and our federal elections are run federally with eligibility the same in every state for federal elections. Although our democracies have significant differences I would suggest that the federal government running federal elections would be more appropriate in the US also for the reasons mentioned.

  2.  @ancelrick5396  I am aware of what you say regarding the electoral college. It's a pity if you trust 50 different voting systems with different rules versus one set of rules by the federation for federal elections. I realise it would be difficult and trust that a constitutional change would be needed and difficult to pass.
