  1. It's got little to do with spending amount. If you think it does please explain this US versus Australia, Australia spends less on publically funded healthcare than the US as a proportion of GDP but has a universal healthcare system and we have a 5 year higher life expectancy. Double down what I just said with the covid 19 response, the US government had a deficit as a proportion of GDP roughly double that of Australia for the 2020 calendar year and economy shrunk 2.7 % as opposed to 1.1%. Throwing more money at a problem doesn't fix it, fix how the money is spent. While military spending in the US is fairly high it's also designed as an industry subsidy creating jobs to an extent, also helps exports, I don't know the values of these things but the amount spent on the military is not the main problem.
