Think of the Taliban as the Republican Party, they aren't all the same, some Qanon/Trump followers would be quite happy with a military takeover of the US with Trump anointed as President or in other words what the Taliban has done so far is in full alignment with the methods of the Taliban but the Taliban will have moderates also and unlike with Biden the ousted president of Afghanistan was seen as illegitimate by many and seems there was widespread support for the Taliban outside of the major cities, just like Republicans actually. I think worst case scenario isn't going to happen however it won't be as inclusive and moderate as the educated city people want.

  2. He can't get that much protection, he trusts/hopes the Taliban doesn't harm him. It's no different in any country, an army can kill anyone should they want. He probably does have security but that would be to reduce the chances of someone else assassinating him, a political rival or something.
