  1. It does sound less violent actually because when the word cut is used it implies slashing someone, face, arm whatever but the point is might disfigure someone and cause a bit of pain but unlikely to kill them ( unless of course is the throat but that implies that the person wielding the knife has subdued the other already). You only need to stab someone about 2 inches in anywhere in the abdominal or neck area and they might die. Stabbing is way more scary.
