Why? US citizens are humans and as fallible as other humans. The fact some and possibly many US citizens believe in American exceptionalism demonstrates complete arrogance and a feeling of superiority. Those who actually believe this can't look outside of their own border for the best solutions because if you are superior and the rest are inferior then stupid to look right.

@paulasparrow3571 in theory they were but only 95% from memory. In theory they would have all been given a number to call or what they should tell their doctor so the doctor is aware if they started having any flu like symptoms. Even if all this was done 95% was not enough. From memory the CDC didn't have resources to do it at every entry point at the time.
