Why do you care? If you look at the US population about 80% have co-morbidities. 69% are overweight and anyone over 70 has health issues of some sort, that's what happens when you get old. The healthy and genuinely fit population is really small.

@ea9373 You're in the wrong country, most countries encourage both to some extent, some more than others. I was looking at a Singaporean government thing and they were going to do a public health campaign because the obesity rate went from 12 to 15% ( can't remember exact numbers but that sort of range) English speaking majority white countries and middle eastern countries are the fattest out of wealthy countries, US might be worst at about 35% but the rest of us aren't far behind around 30% when it comes to obesity as an example. I do agree with one thing you say about the US, because it's seen as indirect and not their cost it's possible that state governments often don't care about the health of their population.
