This is different to McConnell and Barr, who haven't made any claims and have acted in the best interest of the US by making sure a process occurs that will satisfy at least some Trump supporters. What Pompeo has just done the opposite so when as likely is the case and all legal avenues exhausted he will then be seen as someone like Trump who keeps Trump supporters thinking they have been duped. This is bad based on my observation from afar.
