  3. @Nessy-of-the-Lynn  I am not American however Australia is a federal system also and more clearly defined under our constitution. Abbott and DeSantis certainly are/were doing the wrong thing, they can if they want assist the federal government but they shouldn't be actually enforcing or trying to enforce any federal law. As an observer from afar the Republicans are more hypocritical than Democrats, Democrats are too but just not as much.

  5. There's a legal question on whether the president can declare martial law which has never been challenged in court. If it's found the president can then everything becomes legal so long as a war crime isn't committed.

  6. There's nothing in your constitution stopping his plans, the issue is can your president declare martial law which hasn't legally been answered. If he can then he just has to declare martial law in states that don't want to cooperate.
