Lucky your neighbour bought the flag and pole before tariffs kicked in.

Technically costs are already being accrued. The next store fitout if done after tariffs come in will cost more. This cost needs to be recovered and also sales volumes will reduce when tariffs come in, need to increase margins or spend less on wages just to make the same profit.

@marlo2853 what are you smoking, Trump got about 33% of the vote from eligible voters. However add in those who didn't care and didn't vote it's a bit below your 70%. Yes they voted for tariffs and an economic downturn hurting lower income individuals disproportionately. That was a silly thing to do.

General revenue. Don't worry Trump will most likely produce the biggest bestest government deficit you have ever seen outside of wartime. Maybe the tariffs can pay the interest on government bonds.

@sandraeastern9720 without looking it up I think the largest foreign holders of US bonds are China and Japan. Most reserve banks around the world hold some but nowhere near the extent of those 2 countries holdings.

His plan won't work all exporters, importers and retailers will have less profit and less employees. The bond market will be funding Trump's plans.

Actually I think you mean trade sanctions. The last one being beef has now been lifted. Aussie producers will be looking to phase out exports to the US in anticipation of tariffs. The US exported high value beef and imported low value beef. Different producers inside the US will be affected differently. The low cost producers will see domestic prices increase whereas the high value exports mostly to East Asia will dry up in favour of countries like Australia and New Zealand and to some extent South American countries (they won't be able to achieve as high prices)

Yes Biden offered continuity of policy and didn't reverse tariffs on China or handouts to farmers. He just didn't make things a whole lot worse.
