  1. The thing is having universal healthcare doesn't stop anyone from using private healthcare if they are in a rush for an elective procedure. So I have no idea why Americans object to universal healthcare, they actually spend a higher percentage of GDP or at least last time I looked on government funding non universal healthcare than Australia spends on it's universal healthcare system. The only thing we barely cover is dental which is only offered to some on welfare I think.

  2. I don't think Canadians will be affected much at all. First of all the tariffs will be targeted mostly against food and Harley Davidson again etc. , in other words discretionary products and products that can easily be purchased elsewhere, think of ketchup or canned soup or chilli sauce, all those things can be purchased from Mexican manufacturers, just ignore the US ones. Canada might decide not to put any tariffs on vehicles because of the interconnected nature of that industry many vehicles are partially manufactured in both countries.

  3. It's not that simple because some of the oil extraction has no place to go other than the US due to pipeline infrastructure. Shipping oil by road to a sea port would be too expensive and building more pipelines to sea ports takes years.
