Mankind.

What are you working on?
1
Yes, quite. I can't imagine someone emptying a packet of protons into the tube.
1
What are you concerned about?
1
Does he work there?
1
You don't want to get hit in the head by protons travelling at nearly the speed of light!
1
Because knowledge is a terrible thing?
1
The only way you'll stop starvation is to stop war. Good luck with that. A few billion won't do that. Homelessness? That could be solved by creating jobs. You know, like the thousands of people who built the LHC and who work on it have.
1
Isn't that proof in itself? Except they haven't proved it does or doesn't exist yet, I think you're getting ahead of yourself.
1
Half the population aren't dying of hunger. The world has the least hunger it has ever had. The only hunger now is where there is war. Sort that out maybe.
1
I prefer a half wave dipole.
1
No, because world hunger has been fixed, it now happens only because of war. How do you end wars? With more wars? Certainly not by a few euros here and there.
1
A world without humans then?
1
Do you think with the £2.50 extra they get, they could buy a house?
1
@Fulllarrylarry Can you point me to some peer reviewed scientific papers I could read?
1
You realise I'd never thought about that before! Actually, I did, once but put it out of my mind...
1
Doing what? Why why?
1
The world has spent many many many times more than this trying to fix things but hasn't succeeded yet. We're getting there though, we've pretty much solved world hunger now. The people of the world are more prosperous than they have ever been before. As for religion, why doesn't God solve all these world problems?
1
I'm not religious, but I would guess chalk and clay.
1
Of course they know what they're doing! Mostly...
1
They had a pretty good idea what was going to happen when they switched it on, since there have been, and are, other particle colliders around the world, including a smaller one at CERN.
