@g0fvt As a (private) pilot, I have encountered pirate radio interference with the control tower at a busy aerodrome. When it was reported by the aerodrome it took just hours for the police to find and shut down the station/transmitter in question.

When I was university, in my second year I lived on the 12th floor of a tower block, the university halls. As halls president, I was (sort of) responsible for fire safety which meant if there was an alarm and we had all gone down the stairs, having to go back up to check floors...and obviously couldn't use the lifts! I wasn't that fit, even in those days!
