I was there, in Portugal, when the power went off. I had the hire car so had radio, but it wasn't much good to me as it was all in Portuguese!

Most as I guess as it'll be on a car radio or any number of home radios/tuners that people will have...clock radios, etc. I don't think people just throw out their old radios.

@philipbarnes4176 All of my car radios have Long Wave. I have five cars.

@Hang_On_A_Minute Nope, LW! Specifically tuned to 198kHz Radio 4. My cars are....1991, 1993 (but with a newer radio), 2007, 2012, 2017.

@Hang_On_A_Minute Sorry, I didn't see the question before!

@Hang_On_A_Minute 2012 is a Jaguar XF, 2017 is a Toyota Yaris. I don't have the Yaris here at the moment but from what I remember, it's all under "AM" but if you tune down low enough it switches from MW to LW frequencies.

@Hang_On_A_Minute Right, I've just checked the Jaguar, it's the same, you select AM and then you can either tune down or input the frequency. I've just listened to a bit of the news on Radio 4.

@Hang_On_A_Minute You may find the search starts at 531kHz. With mine, if I remember correctly, if it's on MW and I do a search, it'll search only on MW. If I'm on LW and do a search, it'll search only on LW. Maybe try getting on 531kHz and then tuning downwards, see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised! Though I would guess if they aren't European spec cars, they may well not have LW.
