  1. I find it funny how US scanners still have to block out the "cellular" bands, many years after the analogue cellular service was shut down.

  2. Picking up the frequency isn't illegal, only demodulating it. In this way it was shown that in-car radar detectors aren't illegal (in the UK) as they're just signal strength meters and aren't demodulating anything.
