  7. They may have been high pressure sodium or mercury vapour. The mercury vapour ones were more cold white/blueish tinge, while the high pressure sodium ones are a weird washed out slightly yellowish light. Low pressure sodium were very orange.

  8. Not hugely though, the sodium lamps were a similar efficiency to the LEDs.

  9. I like the LED Christmas lights personally. But have you seen the Technology Connections video on finding a suitable incandescent looking LED Christmas light string? He has tried to recreate it for several years until a company who saw his videos decided to produce them. Do a search for LED Christmas lights which don't hurt the eyes: it finally happened!

  10. I'm trying to picture them, I can't recall seeing them - are they high pressure sodium rather than these low pressure sodium lights? I'll have to go and have a look. Not now though, it's 22:20 and I'm sitting in front of the fire...
