Gibbs didnt train as a bow man for alot of his life comparable to medieval bow men. Their stamina would have been pretty insane

Fair points though there's plenty of examples of long bow men joining the fight so idk about the last part.

@kamilszadkowski8864 based on the effects on their bone structure and based on the feats archers were recorded to perform.

@kamilszadkowski8864 nutrition wasn't an issue. Medieval diets were excellent.

@kamilszadkowski8864 "possible sick" wtf does that have to do with the question. Of course if someone's sick it reduces their ability. I'm saying in general for a healthy archer.
1
@kamilszadkowski8864 yes. Just like ancient rowers from Greece were shown that they would dominate modern Olympic rowers and maintained incredible speeds for long distances....it's fairly certain that a large majority of these guys could maintain incredible rates of fire with great stamina 😂
1
@kamilszadkowski8864 don't think it's a reach to say they were much better with bows than modern archers were. And of course there would have been among them even more exceptional archers

@QuantumHistorian 😂 projecting as usual. That's just how I write. This actually tells me more about you 😂. Ironic.
1
@QuantumHistorian I'm not perpetuating any myth. I'm just stating the facts. If that upsets your edge lord mentality....so be it. Please grow up.

@robo5013 even if that's true.....the regime for most archers was more strenuous back then and epigenetic changes due to bone alteration would be passed on. So again he'd have no chance
1
@robo5013 thats exactly how genetics works. 😂 Epigenetics show big changes from parents to children....with skeletal muscle maintaining a memory of its further development. Likewise sperm cells are influenced by the father's activity. This isn't a debate. You're absolutely wrong.
1
@robo5013 you don't understand it's effects. And I personally don't give a shit about your anecdotal experience. That's not evidence at all. Most likely it has had an effect....but it's not gonna be obvious enough to see...as well as theres more factors there from a disclosed shoulder vs gradual thickening of bone and muscle attachments. Again this isn't a debate. And epigenetics is continuing to show how easily we can be altered.

@robo5013 they not being full time soldiers is meaningless. It was set into law for men to have bows and by the 1300s proficiency was expected with plenty of practice. It would have been something every kid was raised on, whether for practice or for hunting
1
@robo5013 Gibbs is also not a particularly large man, and according to his story he shot a few times a week. Nothing special. In periods of intense warfare it's most likely they practiced intensively. Again the world was pretty violent and you definitely wanted competent people capable of protecting property, other people etc.
1
@robo5013 I shoot great long distance with a bolt action, I'm not a professional soldier now though I was. And yet I do more practice and am far better than the time I got in the military
1
@robo5013 again these were healthy dudes, most likely very robust as the skeletons show, with very large muscle insertions, and as competitions were a pastime it's not a reach to say people would have been forming groups and clubs
1
@robo5013 joe Gibbs is decent but to say he was anywhere close to a competent archer at the time is hilarious.
