  1. What's considered losing? Leaving before the battle was lost or something else? US left Vietnam with the Saigon government intact in 1973. Saigon fell in 1975. In Afghanistan the US does a withdrawal and left a intact government in its wake. A month later a taliban offensive starts and thr country falls.

  2.  @billyboyer  To add we left Iraq in 2011 and in 2010 we committed a massive surge making troop levels 100k, and 2014 we dropped it to 10k, while sending troops back to Iraq.

  6. @user-xh4uk1rh3b  The Taliban didn't really put much resistance, compare resistance against Soviets to resistance against Americans lol, one saw the Soviets not gaining control most of the country while the other saw the U.S. dominate the battlefield. Name some battles where the Taliban actually kicked the U.S. out of some teritory.

  8. Fun fact about those things, tanks weren't in Afghanistan, the only tank unit was for the marines and were used in a single province. Planes? It was reported it took forever to get them on station so they barely made a difference. Guns? Taliban have lots after 40 years of war and tanks were included.

  11.  @flyer7799  the military especially the marines use strategy and courage. The marines are underfunded as heck and they live like savages on deployment. They cook their MREs through sheer sunlight sometimes.

  18.  @RogerLewis-ey2tt  The destruction of Al Queda to the point it was unable to continue it's goals of international terrorism from Afghanistan. Along with the Taliban insurgency being low at the time. Look at troop levels from 2009 to 2014. Notice how in 2015 when the U.S. was mentally checked out of the war, even most of the American population at the time didn't care about the war, the Taliban insurgency rose.
