@nicoleskorupsky1007 Your concerns are right, but you have plenty of months to plan around that. As a Chicagoan living in the Chinatown area, the race is fine even though I attend to work downtown. What I see more as a pressing matter is Chinatown. Tourism flooded the area and is being treated with little respect from lots of littering. Your concerns hold little weight when you can change your routine for a couple of weeks with little cost. In fact, public transit or biking is cheaper than owning a car.
Public transportation is a stink, but it's still an excellent way to get around the city. If you live in the City, you have an obligation to use public transportation or bike. If you use a car, you contribute to congestion and traffic on daily work trips. I know suburbs exist, but they dug themselves into that hole because of the lack of density and because things are far away. Public transit sure is crowded, but at least it moves on a schedule, except for busses kinda. You also have bikes and feet. Bus operation is impacted by car congestion. Public transportation needs an upgrade, and more streets must be narrowed for more efficient bus operations.
Chicago was bulldozed for the car.

@nicoleskorupsky1007 And guess what, does this race impact the entirety of America? Do people in Tornto, Long Beach, New York, Miami, Detroit, and many other areas complain so much about it? Think about the city selection, what's a similarity they all got. Of course not, because they got the decency to plan around it and use their city's strengths. The event only impacts us for a short period of time, and the delays it causes can be worked around us pretty easily. You, are just lazy.
