@NguyenHuy-og3te I wonder why 1 million people on the internet are called Nguyen Huy and plus carp does taste good. I am an American that lives near the great lakes on a river here in Chicago. It's just that Asian Carp literally tastes like garbage and to make it even bearable to eat you need to put a bunch of flavourings and such. Plus, I am Chinese with parents that cut fish and pretty much know a lot about preparing fish.

@jestes7 I do, the fish alone tastes horrible and having to prepare it with seasonings to make it taste good. Also, have you been to the Mississippi River and fished some Asian Carp in the wild?

The issue being the Asian Carp we have taste horrible as we don't farm them. Fish taste good depending on where they live and how they were raised and the majority of Asian carp are caught in the wild.

@jestes7 Silver carp.

@NetherVoiD Btw, here in the US big restaurants serve fish with bones too. I live in a Chinatown here in Chicago.

@jestes7 I didn't prepare it myself, my parents did it and I can describe it with replacing the guts will all these seasonings and flavourings and the smell from the kitchen reeks into the 2nd floor of the house.

@izzatihassan1475 Eh, I like salt water fish more than fresh water.

Pirate_Nick Mention how all the good of China comes from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

I am pretty sure about the majority of the comment section don't get the fact that Asian Carp tastes very bad but other types of carp especially the ones that are raised in farms taste really good. The fish's taste depends on their living conditions as if you get one from the Mississippi River and caught it wild it would taste bad as wild Asian Carp lives on the sea floor. If it were farmed properly in clean waters I think it would taste good to the point we can eat it without disgust.

@NetherVoiD Carp is good, but Asian Carp is horrible.

Carp in the US are not generally farmed. That means that the fish eat what they find. Unfortunately, carp have a high tolerance for pollution. That means that carp can be ingesting things that people don't really want to eat.

@peterthor9940 Issue, being the fact that Asian carp likes living on the floor eating things that cause issues for us.

@cheftorshi We aren't it's just that they taste bad, I eat fish with bones in it. Not to mention the fact that we haven't been farming Asian Carp meaning most of the Asian Carp will contain toxins. Carp are bottom-feeding fish, which makes them much more likely to pick up toxins, chemicals, and generally unpleasant flavours from the wild. (Surprisingly enough, their mercury levels are low since they generally don't eat other fish.) Carp is often described as having a "muddy" flavour for this reason, and if you ever wondered why carp are often served with hellishly spicy sauce in Chinese restaurants, this might be why.

Carp is good its just that nobody gets why the Asian Carp in the US tastes hella bad as fish's taste literally depends on the fish's living conditions.

@giths19 Man so many Afghans getting VISAs to America and more.

The idea of bringing Asian families to do fishing on the rivers has existed in the US before you made this comment and the reason why we cannot catch Asian carp at a high rate is that they live on the sea floor.
