@joyhouse4625 Fun fact ISIS is gone thanks to the US and Iraq is rebuilding as Iraq is an actual unified country with some ideological unity compared to Afghanistan they don't. Also, the goal for the US wasn't to eliminate the Taliban, think about it. 2014 Obama declared the mission over dropping troop levels from 100k to 8.5k and the new mission was to have the ANA do the majority of the fighting and the US would just support them.

@worwor1721 OH yeah explain why having a failed country for the past 70 years to just blame the US now. Afghanistan was a British owned country and released in the late 40s. In the 80s the country got invaded by the Soviet Union. In the 90s a Civil War happened. So yeah totally blame the US even though the country has been at war with itself for the past 70 years or even longer.

@worwor1721 Saddam did was called a pro gamer move which was to fire off all of his SCUDs(also classed under WMDs) and destroyed his chemicals to say it doesn't exsist. Even though we know Iraq has used those weapons in the Iran Iraq war and the 46 SCUD missile attack on Israel. The plan turned out to work as NATO got into a massive scandal over it.

@Metalingots I ain't distorting reality, in both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars on the same years which is 2010 and 2011, there correlates a mass withdrawal of troops. Also, have some common sense, why have 3k soldiers in Iraq, is it for security, or to occupy? Same thing for Afghanistan which is 10k troops since 2014 which is a 90% decrease from 2010. Btw, in Iraq we actually left the country 100%, not to mention Chemical weapons during Vietnam, the US didn't use chemical weapons, it used a DEFOLIANT, it doesn't matter if it had gas like effects, it was used as a defoliant, and the effects weren't known till much later. Not to mention neighboring Muslim countries do have them sweet weapons, Iraq has M1 Abrams, same for the Saudis, Yemeni people got some good TOW Missiles, Iran has F14 Tomcats, and more.

@Metalingots tbh I think you're kinda one of those POGs that don't take things seriously before contact. Anyways I already knew about the situation in Iraq in 2014 when ISIS became a big issue. I mean hey Marine Corps eventide Marines leave things go south. I didn't serve, but my friends did in 2/5 has 0311s and 0331s in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you want I can violate PERSEC and send their contact info if you wanna make friends with em. Also, Chemical weapons weren't used in Vietnam. They were a defoliant. We didn't use them to straight up gas the insurgents out of their rat tunnels. In the average honest opinion that I have I think that after AL queda became a dead cell, we started to lower the scale of the conflict. Even in the 2015 taliban resurgence we didn't bother sending an insane amount of troops. It was mostly in the 10k to 20k range.

@Stinktierchen Its the other way around and we didn't train Al Qeuda, plus some members of AL Queda blended in with the Mujahideen to get trained so the US can't do much to accidentally train people they don't know much about.

@Laika24102007 The US goal wasn't to drive the Taliban out, the original mission was completed in 2014. To make it even more obvious in 2016 to 2019 it was around 8.5k to 10k troops compared to 100k in 2010. The goal after 2014 was to have the ANA drive out the Taliban as fighting wars like these is a 101 to do which is to have the ruling government of the country do the work. Worked well in Iraq, but corruption and a un unified country that has been at war for 70 years straight after the 50s caused the fall.

@haftavasuli7162 Exectly how did the US make the Taliban stronger? All I see is outdated equipment and equipment bought on the web along with the fact their Humvees are unarmored 80s models, their APC's are for rear guard security, all the aircraft they got are propeller driven, and I can go on and on.

@Prometheus574 I don't believe you, but Taliban aren't terrorists and ISIS and AL Queda were what the US were fighting against and the Taliban were just people getting caught up in the fighting. When Osama Bin Laden died and the US destroyed AL Qeuda, the US pulls out 90% of its troops from Afghanistan in 2014 and handed all combat responsibilities to the ANA that same year. Not to mention if ISIS was a US thing then why was it created in 1999 in Iraq and that organization spread all the way into the Philippines.
