@shinyamada488 the oil conspiracy is a lie. If we were to take the oil, common sense would dictate to diplomatically take the oil. Not to mention we refused Saddam's offer for oil in exchange for no invasion.

@shinyamada488 Is the USA an empire? I say no, it had a lot of chances to be an Empire. Let me paint a picture If America took all the chances to be an Empire. One, we'd be having a lot more Mexico, Philippines, Liberia, Guatemala, Panama, and more would be under the colonial rule of the US today still, but no, we let them have independent rule and we didn't take land from anyone else and annexed it since the 19th century.

@harisyoung4110 Rephrase the sentence to make it more readable and understanding, because I think you're saying Greece is sending oil to Iran (a county we didn't invade in 2003) to then come up in the US. How can we steal oil from a country we didn't invade nor have political influence on their oil?

Not to mention if you'd bother looking at history, countries like the Philippines, Panama, etc were independent nations under the assistance of the US.

@harisyoung4110 Lol, it's because of demand fell off sharply during pandemic lockdowns, briefly pushing the price of oil below zero. The war in Ukraine has disrupted Russian oil supplies, causing a spike in prices. It's basic economics, not rocket science. If there's demand price go up, no demand means lower price.
