  1. It should be mentioned that submarines running "submerged and silent" run the risk of cavitating their propellers if they're turning too fast. They are designed not to do so but it seems to be close to impossible to stop the phenomenon completely. Cavitation is noisy, detectable and slowing down a little while submerged should make you more stealthy.
