  1. The Number One target in UK would be the Faslane submarine base in Scotland from which the UK's nuclear deterrent forces operate. Presumably, one Vanguard Trident submarine is always on station somewhere in the Arctic carrying a maximum of 16 missiles, each with 8 re-entry vehicles for a total of 128 warheads. If you study the military history of the UK, you'll realize that they won't "give in" and they will certainly rain the whole lot down on the Russians as retaliation. That is the entire purpose of their nuclear deterrence force, no tit-for-tat.

  3. I think that a similar attack on some Russian infrastructure such as gas pipelines supplying a Russian city when it gets really cold would be interesting and karic (and a political hand grenade).

Anyway, I'm 66 years old and have lived my entire life under the threat of instant death from nuclear weapons made in Russia by Russians. I have served in my country's armed forces but I don't live in a nuclear armed nation. We are entirely at the will of whatever lunatic rules Russia at any given time. They threaten us. We don't threaten them. You need to pick better friends.

  8. Info is coming around now of seismic traces of a massive explosion from the area the moment the dam failed so the structural failure idea may be kaput. It does jive with the general quality of Soviet construction, though.

  9.  @pauljohny200  China has a small nuclear arsenal, (They won't help you. Their nukes are for use on Russians) Iran has none yet. It costs the US, France and Britain BILLIONS a year to maintain their nuclear weapons in working order. You don't just build them and put them on the shelf. You have to constantly renew the fissile material and especially the tritium, which is an isotope of Hydrogen and doesn't containerize for long. The Russians re piss-poor broke and likely can't maintain more than a small fraction of their nuclear forces. It would take up their entire military budget, year after year. Add the problem of rampant corruption in Russia where contractors tell that they've completed work that they haven't as they pocket the money meant to refurbish the warheads. The Russians have a paper army and there is a good chance that they have a paper nuclear force. Most of them won't work. Russia would lose a nuclear war anyway but because they are clearly incompetent, they would lose catastrophically.

So, tell us how the Russian, who have a very small GDP can afford to maintain a huge arsenal of nuclear weapons. They need constant and detailed attention to keep them going. The Russian have shown us that their armed forces are incompetent as they are defeated by Ukraine and the Russian nuclear force will be as well.

They haven't even threatened the use of a nuclear weapon in response to the Russians using one in Ukraine. What they have down is threaten an overwhelming conventional response that will effectively end what's left of the rg-tag Russian army. Only the Russian threaten. They're threatening the British (Why the British?) which is weird because they can respond immediately to an attack on them.
