  2. Six new, large Arctic Patrol ships to go with it. Five are in the water, already. They are not heavily armed but they are capable of moving substantial numbers of troops about, which will be far more relevant.

  3. @otten9292 No, but it's better than it's ever been previously. The US isn't able to either. They have nearly zero icebreaking ability and nothing new building for a long. long time.

  5. Russia is so spent right now that a move into the NATO Arctic (and it is all NATO except for Russia) will be suicidal for the whole regime. Don't lose any more sleep over this for several decades, anyway.

  6. "Insane' is the operative word. Russia is weak, broke, thin on human capital and they will neverr be able to rebuild the legacy Soviet military that they mostly inherited. "Insane" isn't half of it.
