  2.  @pintiliecatalin  Greece joined the NATO alliance in 1952 and they are therefore not reliant on the newcomers that you've listed. Sweden (a major designer/manufacturer of advanced weaponry) controls the Baltic, which is the only safe route into Russia by sea. Sweden is as geographically important as Turkey in containing the Russians. Bulgaria and Romania ... not so much.

  3.  @pintiliecatalin  NATO membership is NATO membership. Countries join NATO for mutual protection. There is no king/emperor behind the scenes creating strategic positioning. Besides, Russia is clearly much weaker and less able that their propaganda over the last century would lead us to believe. What great strategic positioning do you have to create to counter an alcoholic paper tiger?
