The Israeli navy won't be "projecting" much power far away from their shores with Corvettes. It is still clearly a defensive force.

There is actually a strategic advantage to Germany in supporting the strength of the Israeli navy. The Russians have a Mediterranean naval base just a little up the coast from Israel in Syria and NATO would like to counter Russian naval strength in the Med as much as possible. That is not to say that Israel will act in the interests of NATO but when it comes to navigation in the Mediterranean, Israel and NATO have common cause.

@olegolkha34 Why do the Israelis need an F-35B? Are they going to the South China Sea, too? Their end of the Mediterranean is quite small and the existing Israeli air force can project power all over it. The F-35B really has no use beyond shipborne operations and PERHAPS in jungles (although it it's way too delicate for that). Anyway, the mighty USAF might not always be there. The USA is lining up to rip itself into pieces and Israel, etc. may have to go it without them. The MED is a lake.

Don't you think that their navy is on the wrong side of the Suez Canal for that?

@SchergeSatans Yes, it is a method of subsidizing German military procurement. The Americans, Russians, Chinese all do that in a big way.

Interesting ...and the Israelis have so much better healthcare than the Americans get, too.

@Erreul Poor little Israel, the regional nuclear armed superpower who wins every war ...

@Erreul What would set off the Russians and Chinese closing the trap would be crazy political instability in the United States because of the Trump cult that results in internal warfare in the US, again. In that case, poor little Israel and a whole lot of other countries are on their own. An EU centric NATO is the next best power bloc. (China and Russia are opportunistic but not natural allies. They compete for the ownership of central Eurasia and that is where a lot of the next world war will end up being fought.)

@Erreul Something is going to happen. You can feel it. I doubt that the Middle East will be the fuse that lights to powder keg, though. There seems to be a rough balance of power stabilizing the region, right now. (Never mind the proxy wars going on in places like Syria. They can slaughter each other with impunity.)

@Erreul What will definitely kick it off is an unstable USA coming apart violently. That will open up opportunities all over the globe for various thugs to make their moves. We may be a lot closer to that than you think. (Imagine an Intifada involving 330,000,000 people who are crazily. heavily, insanely armed who HATE their next door neighbors over invented, synthetic issues.)

@Erreul You are expecting a better educated and better informed population that is really there, Most Americans have little awareness of what happens outside their county rather than outside their country. I live in Canada and I dare say without exaggeration that 90% of the American population could not find Canada on a map and yet they project power all over if it is sold to them in the right manner.

@Erreul I'm already an old-guy Veteran.
1
Right. So when do the Frigates get built?
1
@cesaravegah3787 yup.

Yeh. Not just anyone has space lasers.
