  2.  @peabase  Well, the Soviet army was fresh in those pre-WWII days (except for Stalin purging his officer class). Today's Russian army has been depleted badly with a quarter to one third of a million dead and likely that number or more invalided. It is a spent force with most of their "professional" soldiers gone and unmotivated, under equipped conscripts taking their place. The Finns are cutting edge and so are their Scandinavian neighbours. I'll put my money on the Finns.
