  1. The entrances to a lot of barrows look distinctly like female genitalia. Maybe, our Neolithic ancestors thought of the Earth as a "mother" and they were returning the dead to the womb (for rebirth? Who can ever know?)

  2. That sudden 300 year population decline circa 3600 BC could have been caused by some sort of plague (perhaps Bubonic? Smallpox? something new?) and that may be why the isolated islands off the North coast of Scotland were booming at that time ... splendid isolation.
