  5.  @edl6398  It sure isn't now but I question that you told each other you were #1 in the World back in the sixties when you really weren't. Back in WWII, one of my uncles started out his service in the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) working as a teacher. This was long before the US was at war and Americans were going North to join the air force there. He taught remedial math (Trigonometry) to the Americans who had never been compelled to take it. In Canada, you could not serve as air crew unless you had graduated from High school and you couldn't do that without passing Trigonometry. The American "college boys" had no such requirement upon them. Trig was vitally important as you cannot navigate and airplane without it. I knew many wartime air crew vets (my Dad was one) and they said the USAAF had to bomb in the daytime because their crews didn't have the skill set to navigate at night. That was a couple of generations ago but Americans isolate themselves from the reality of the outside world so much that self congratulation leads them to believe that they are the World's best at everything, always.

  15.  @edl6398  You didn't understand a word that I wrote, apparently which reinforces my thesis about the American public education system. My Uncle, who eventually ended up commanding the base, then became the president of the national teachers association in Canada (Canadian Teachers Federation), then a Deputy Minister of the Crown for education in a Canadian Province (Education is not federal in Canada) had to teach trigonometry to HUNDREDS of American aircrew so that they didn't get lost up there. It was a major problem that in 1940 there was such mismatch of educational standards between the US and Canada (and probably with the rest of the Commonwealth) in 1940. Anyway, no mater I say or anyone else says, Americans will always consider themselves to be the best at everything, everywhere, any time no matter what the object truth is because that is how your culture is structured.
