  1. Not true. During the religious Thirty Years war and many, many wars after mercenary armies ravaged Europe over and over. The Swiss mercenaries were famous as were Germans, Dutch, English, Irish, Scottish mercenary armies. It's an old idea. Some of those old kingdoms didn't even have their own armies.

  2. A "tuning point"? Oh, please. A year ago, Russian tanks were entering Kviv. Bachmut took ten months to fall and there is nowhere for the Russians to go from there. The only possible turning point here is that that Russians have tricked themselves into thinking that they've achieved something.
