When the flooding subsides, the now partially drained reservoirs will have shallow and gradual shorelines on each side because of deposition and that will make it a lot easier for amphibious vehicles such as Leopard IIs to ford the now narrower river upstream of the dam. The Russians just wiped out a whole lot of their fixed defensive positions south of Kherson and they can't replace them when they are flooded.

@LJMayhew The banks will have a gentler slope because of the silting. Engineers would have to lay down lath or mesh in front of them, though.

@chemcintosh9704 Ummmm to stop an armoured offensive that was waiting for the ground to dry out? Is it REALLY that difficult to comprehend? (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome has really done a number on the Russian['s ability to reason.)

@paolopetrozzi2213 I suppose that the muddy reservoir will make it harder for the Russian army to retreat in panic like they did from Kherson last fall.

@mohnjayer Russia doesn't "own" Crimea, Kherson Luhansk, Donetsk ... none of it. Russia is an invader who is occupying Ukraine land illegally by force. Russia does not "own" their neighbours. That mindset is why NATO has expanded so much. The member nations don't want to be "owned" by the genocidal Russians anymore.

Are they? Perhaps, it's because it is ridiculous propaganda from a ridiculous source. The Swiss by the way don't buy the "Ukrainian" source of this and have just joined the coalition against Russia by allowing their weapons to be sent to Ukraine. The incompetent Russians have pushed neutral Sweden AND NOW neutral Switzerland into the war against them. Not too bright.
