Canada's sovereignty over the Northwest Passage is threatened on all sides. The United States has made it clear that they consider the Canadian Northwest Passage routes to be international waterways that they intend to patrol (They have virtually no capacity to do so, however). The British are following the United States demands (again, all hat, no cattle). The Russians however are perfectly capable of cruising back and forth through the center of Canada right now. The Chinese want a capability to do the same and the American doctrine invites them in and every other interested party.

Canada was armed defensive with nuclear weapons for three decades. We're one of the very few countries on Earth to get rid of them (Ukraine being another) .

@cudlefish9990 We are. There is a new class of naval vessels for the Northwest Passage being built in Halifax right now. Three are in the water, five more to come.Anyway, when Trump gets back in NORAD is gone. Then you'll only have to worry about American airspace and you can be biglier than ever.

@craig7350 You can Google it. "Canadian Weapons of Mass Destruction". They really were real.

@cudlefish9990 The Americans are all hat and no cattle ... as usual.

@cudlefish9990 Well, the biggest threat to our sovereignty that we face is a rogue United States and they are crumbling faster than the Russian army.

@cudlefish9990 The "current usa" doesn't include anything in the Arctic except bullying bravura. The Americans sure are loud about everything, though. All hat, no cattle ...

@cudlefish9990 Okay, troll. The US is a dying power.

@cudlefish9990 You think that being a "power" that conquers and enslaves is something to aspire to? Anyway, the ultimate resource war is looming on the horizon and it isn't about oil or lithium or rare earth, it's about fresh water. We are charging head-on into a world with 20 billion plus inhabitants and Canada is THE fresh water superpower.
